Tom Haakman – Chez Freddy Art & Design

Tom sees that the role of religion in art and society has changed. In the past, many artworks showed religious scenes. Today, religion is often less visible in contemporary art, even though it still plays an important role in the world. This contrast is the starting point of his work.

Tom grew up in a religious environment, but his belief slowly faded. This made him question what religion means to him now. The installation shows this personal search, while also looking at how people find meaning in a world that is changing—partly through technology and digital culture.

His sculptures use religious imagery together with elements from today’s visual culture. They show a world in transition, where traditions and rituals are given new forms and meanings. The installation is both a record of Tom’s journey and an invitation for visitors to reflect on their own place in this changing world.
