Lise Lou Sore – Studio Seine

For the work “Combined landscape of places that felt like home,” Lise Lou Sore explored how displacement, vulnerability, and inner experience influence one another. The landscape elements, presented in a monumental ten-metre-wide panorama, depict places where Sore feels at home, combined with memories of the landscape in which the artist grew up.

Born in Niger to expatriate parents, Lise Lou Sore grew up in the warmth of a close-knit community before the family abruptly moved to the Netherlands. This sense of displacement and ongoing adaptation forms a recurring theme in the work. By exploring the landscape environment, Sore adds another layer to the transparent self-portraits for which the artist is known. The panorama invites the viewer to wander through an inner landscape and to reinterpret memories.
