Frits Achten’s artistic research, long balanced between figuration and abstraction, reaches a particularly mature synthesis in this installation. Incisions and recessed cavities carved into the material introduce depth and shadow, generating a dynamic alternation between solid surface and internal openings.
The layered, tactile surface recalls geological processes. Each element appears shaped by time, as though emerging from sedimented strata. Its clustered arrangement creates an immediate focal point, visible from a distance, while inviting viewers to move around the forms.
