Many works by female artists will be shown during KunstRAI / Art Amsterdam 2021. However, the art sector still seems to be dominated by male artists. Gender inequality in the contemporary art sector remains a current fact. In an annual report, by Dr. Clare McAndrew (Arts Economics), presented at Art Basel, the following is stated:
“A sample of 82 of the top global fairs from Artfacts.net in 2018 showed that of the approximately 27,000 artists who had work exhibited, just 24% were female versus 76% male.“
Several (inter)national institutions seem to be increasingly opposed to this inequality. The organization of the KunstRAI also strives for more equality among both artists and gallery owners. The images below show a selection of the works that will be shown during the KunstRAI 2020.
