Fotomuseum Hilversum – BLOS

Fotomuseum Hilversum is the only museum participating in KunstRAI in Amsterdam, taking place from April 22 to 26, 2026. The museum presents BLOS, a multidisciplinary project by photographer Annabel Oosteweeghel and artist Frank Visser, which will be on view at the museum later this autumn. BLOS is a project in which the boundaries between photography and visual art begin to blur.

Fotomuseum Hilversum is the leading museum for news and documentary photography in the Netherlands. It also presents projects that explore the boundaries of photography, placing the encounter with images, art, and moving image at the centre. Through exhibitions and collaborations with partners such as the Zilveren Camera, World Press Photo, and Het Perfecte Plaatje, the museum connects journalism and visual culture with a broad audience. Each year, Fotomuseum Hilversum also presents exhibitions in which photography merges with other disciplines and takes on new forms.

About BLOS – An encounter in colour, textile and photography

BLOS is an ode to playfulness. It reveals what can emerge when working with colour, form, and material. The studio becomes a free space for experimentation with textiles, sculptures, and existing materials that are given a new life. The imagery arises from spontaneity and the collaboration between Oosteweeghel and Visser, without a fixed plan.

As soon as a model enters the studio, the creative process begins. Space is made for association and free creation. BLOS is like opening a dressing-up box: loose fabrics become skirts, or a collection of down sleeping bags is transformed into a single large cloak. On the spot, couture is created directly on the body of the models using scissors, needle, and thread.

In this way, a visual language develops in which photography, installation, and textile flow seamlessly into one another. BLOS advocates for a pronounced softness towards ourselves and the world, expressed through colour and form.
